SPRINGDALES SCHOOL DHAULA KUAN Commemorating the Commencement of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Sarvodaya International Trust (New Delhi Chapter) and India International Centre organised a special programme ‘Celebrating Gandhi’ on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 6.30 p.m. at the C.D. Deshmukh Auditorium, India International Centre. The event was presided over by Shri Pavan K. Varma, Author, Politician and former Diplomat.

Dr. Jyoti Bose, Managing Trustee, Sarvodaya International Trust (New Delhi Chapter) welcomed the august gathering that comprised of the Trustees of the Sarvodaya International Trust as well as eminent personalities. Asserting faith in the ideals of the Mahatma, Dr. Bose suggested that “now more than ever are people in need of faith and hope, of courage and peace of mind, of standards and ideals by which to live and above all an abiding belief in the future”.

Enlightening the audience on the Coincidence of Beliefs of Adi Shankaracharya and Mahatma Gandhi, Shri Pavan K. Varma highlighted that “both were guided by inflexible courage of conviction and firmly believes that differences in ideologies do not mean rejection, contempt and dismissal of others. He elaborated that both spiritual leaders stood above enticement of material pleasures and spread the message that there is more to life than personal redemption.”

The Senior Students of Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan presented an affirmation of love and faith in the Mahatma through historical exchanges of letters between Gandhi and some of the Giants of the Independence Movement. In a soul stirring presentation, the Choir of Springdales School wove together the favourite Bhajans of Gandhiji.
