SPRINGDALES SCHOOL PUSA ROAD The school celebrated India’s freedom and 70th Independence Day with great fervour. The chief guest for the occasion was Lt. Gen Arun Sahni. The celebration commenced with the unfurling of the tricolor coupled with the soulful renditions by the school choir.
In her welcome address, Principal Mrs Ameeta M. Wattal remembered the brave soldiers who lost their lives for the country and paid homage to them. She expressed confidence in the infinite potential of the youth in bridging the disparity to help India shine.
A fine mosaic of thought provoking poetry, speeches and patriotic songs was staged by the students. Niharika Dabral of Class XI recited a self-composed poem titled, Ek aur Sangharsh’. It was followed by a thought provoking speech by Anamika Sudhakar of class XI. The Sarita Gupta Scholarship was awarded to Aman, Rashmi, Keshav Krishan and Yashodeep. The citations were read for them and they received a cash prize of Rs.2000 each. The highlight of the event was the theatrical presentation ‘A tribute to Kalam’ by a professional troupe from Mumbai. They brought forth the life and achievements of the most revered and honoured President of India Shri APJ Abdul Kalam.
The chief guest , Lt.Gen A.K.Sahni, applauded the efforts of the students and encouraged them to develop life skills, take up challenges and envisage a better nation for themselves.
The celebration imbued patriotic fervor in one and all. The programme ended with the National Anthem.
